Here are some of the in-house laboratory test options we offer:

Comprehensive Blood Work: Our in-house laboratory performs essential diagnostic tests, such as blood chemistry panels, complete blood counts (CBC), platelet levels, and clotting factors. These tests provide insights and help us evaluate blood sugar and protein levels, kidney and liver function, electrolyte balance, and more. We also use blood tests to check for heartworm, a potentially life-threatening disease transmitted by mosquitoes. Blood work offers an invaluable diagnostic tool, uncovering underlying health concerns.

Urinalysis: Urine samples reveal many pet health concerns. They help detect early signs of kidney disease, liver disease, urinary tract infections, diabetes, dehydration, crystals, hormonal imbalances, and more. The non-invasive diagnostic tool provides a wealth of information, allowing us to assess a sick or healthy pet's overall well-being.

Fecal Tests: Fecal testing ensures your pet is free from internal parasites, such as roundworms or hookworms. While some fecal samples may be tested on-site, more complex tests are sent to a reference laboratory for comprehensive analysis. Routine fecal testing helps keep your pet healthy and prevents the spread of parasites to other animals or humans.

Culture and Sensitivity: If we suspect your pet has an infection, we may recommend culture and sensitivity tests to determine the specific bacteria strain and which antibiotics work best. While we collect the samples from your pet in-house, we typically send them to a reference lab to run the tests. Our goal is to ensure your pet receives the most effective care, reducing the chances of antibiotic resistance or treatment failure.

Biopsies and Fine Needle Aspirates: We perform biopsies or fine needle aspirates to evaluate unusual lumps or masses, helping diagnose conditions like infections, cysts, or cancer. We evaluate some tissue samples under our in-house microscope. However, larger pieces of tissues may be sent to a reference lab for evaluation. Biopsies and fine needle aspirates help ensure your pets receive the right treatment without delay.

Ear and Skin Cytology: Ear and skin cytology involves examining tissue samples from the ears or skin under a microscope to diagnose infections, allergies, tumors, or parasites like ticks and mites. We can perform initial cytology tests on-site for rapid assessment and may send samples to a reference lab in some cases. Ear or skin cytology helps pinpoint the underlying cause of your pet's concerns, ensuring prompt and effective treatment.
